For some people it's purely political. The Republican are my team, the ones to root for. Others have fundamentally different viewpoints about government power, fiscal management, assertive foreign policy, and/ or social values. If you want to change hearts & minds, why don't you engage with them rather than lampooning them as a stereotype you refuse to get to know?
