Don't forgive. The idea that you should feel guilty for not accepting abuse as somehow okay is backwards. Forgive yourself for being permissive and distract yourself whenever intrusive thoughts come to you. When you dwell on bad memories, they linger. Think, stop! And read a book, call a friend or do something active. This too shall pass.
