I'm directing a play with a group of people who seem to always have something better to do. I'm committed posh comes to shone I know they'll be awesome, but how can I make my actors more motivated to being the best they can be?

Get them involved in the outcome. Get them to invite their friends & family. Tell them a specific journalist whom you've gotten to Schedule a '' preview'' day two weeks in advance in a public park to force everyone to take the real deadline more seriously, Replace your most problematic person. Run rehearsals that are efficient & with free food only for those who come on time.
