Most teachers do care about kids, but the teachers unions care mostly about jobs and money. That's why they give teachers a tenured job where the bad ones can't be fired. All teachers start wanting to help kids but some just can't handle the endless years of kids not paying attention & misbehaving. And then, they can't be fired.
