Sometimes things can be fulfilling even if they don’t make you happy. Be creative. can you tell the captain you’ll join provisionally? On enjoying it? Can you be fulfilled with other hobbies or by skiing for fun, not competitively? If you don’t love it enough to get really good at it, maybe it’s time to move on.
