Someone who’s independent isn’t addicted to being side-by-side with friends. You can go to dinner or party & be separate as well as together. Each of you has your own interests the other may not share. Being independent you value relationships but are comfortable or your own. Being alone is the same physically but more lonely mentally. Alone is suggestive of involuntary independence.
