Solar energy isn’t commercially competitive yet with the price of oil. So if we rely purely on market forces to advance technology & switch us to solar, it may take a long time. You’re partly right though . If oil did start to run out, prices would rise & then suddenly we would all switch to solar. Might as well get governments to start.
